Many students in India who are coming from different communities have a general curiosity within them but they often lack access to applied STEM learning. Though many government schools now teach different scientific concepts, students are seen to have difficulties while getting access to hands-on learning methods. This gap often limits the students ability to get into designed thinking, problem solving and coming up with realistic innovations. Studies show that early exposure to applied STEM methodologies improves their cognitive skills and leads to academic growth.
Identifying this gap, we decided to come up with ByDesign, a platform that believes every student deserves the chance to think like an innovator. For many students, we realised that the gap is not in intelligence but in the accessibility of resources, mentorship and a space that nurtures their curiosity. ByDesign aims to mitigate the gap by bringing in accessibility to science -based problem-solving tools to the students who are in need of it.
ByDesign aims to include practical handbooks, activity resources while initiating workshops and projects that will help the learners to translate classroom theories into real - world research. From analysing the forces behind everyday objects to witnessing how repeated design movements can lead to interesting community solutions, ByDesign encourages students to question, learn and innovate. The platform was primarily designed to assist students coming from different academic backgrounds and give them the opportunity to ideate solutions for the world they live in.
